Dictation in every app
Hold a key, say the phrase, let go. The text appears wherever your cursor is. The audio stays on your Mac.

An example: names and text are made up, and the windows are simplified.
- Works wherever you can type
- Email, chat, documents, a code editor. No plugins: the text goes into the field your cursor is in.
- Almost no wait
- On an M4, a phrase of up to 8 seconds is recognised in about 0.1 seconds. Use a key or the button at the screen edge.
- Knows your words
- Add names and terms to the dictionary and the app writes them correctly.
- Tidies the text
- Turn on clean-up and an AI adds punctuation and drops filler words. It only gets the phrase’s text, never the audio. While clean-up is off, the text never leaves your Mac.
- Loses nothing
- Every phrase goes into the history. If pasting failed you can copy it. If it was not recognised you can try again.
- Stays on your Mac
- The audio lives in memory for one phrase. You can clear or turn off the history, and nothing is kept from password fields.
Speed measured on an M4 with 24 GB, Parakeet v3, 20 phrases of 1.5 to 8 seconds, synthetic voice.
How to start
Allow it during setup
Dictation is already on at its step in setup. The app downloads speech recognition and asks for the microphone and Accessibility: that is how it sees your key and pastes the text. If you do not need it, turn it off right there or later in Settings.
Hold the key and speak
The right ⌘ by default, and you can choose another.
Let go
The phrase appears wherever your cursor is.
History and dictionary
Everything you dictate is in the main window, next to your meeting recordings.
What it cannot do yet
- Foreign terms inside a phrase are recognised less well. The dictionary helps, but not with everything.
- The text appears all at once when you let go, not as you speak.
- It needs an Apple Silicon Mac: dictation is not available on Intel.
Try it on your next call
Installing takes a couple of minutes. After that the app keeps itself up to date.
