Privacy
The app has no account and no cloud library of meetings. Recordings and everything made from them sit in a folder on this Mac. Only what the services you chose need ever leaves the computer. Here is exactly what.
| What | Stays on the Mac | Leaves only if you turned it on |
|---|---|---|
| Recording | Microphone and call audio, always | Nowhere |
| Transcription | Done on the Mac by default | A cloud service receives the meeting audio: AssemblyAI, OpenAI or ElevenLabs |
| Summaries and names | If the AI runs on this Mac | Our server and OpenAI, Claude, ChatGPT or another service you named receive the meeting text, its title, the call app and calendar participants |
| Recording from a phone | Off until you turn it on | The file passes through your iCloud Drive at Apple |
| Dictation | Audio always, text while clean-up is off | An AI receives the phrase’s text, if you turned clean-up on |
Where things are kept
- After transcription, the audio stays in the meeting’s folder. You can turn this off.
- API keys stay on this Mac and go only to the service they belong to.
- The calendar is optional. Its data leaves the Mac only when meeting participants go along with the text to a cloud AI for the summary.
Dictation
- Turned on during setup, at its own step. You can turn it off there or later in Settings.
- If a phrase could not be recognised, its audio is kept so you can retry: the last ten at most, deleted once recognised.
- The app watches only the key you chose. It neither reads nor stores what you type.
- Text from password fields is not sent and not written to the history.
What is not there
- Usage statistics: the sender and the installation identifier are removed from the code.
- Requests to the servers of the original project’s author. A dedicated test checks for this.
Summaries from Noumy
- Used only if you chose this option.
- The meeting text and its details go to our server, which passes them to OpenAI on our key and returns the summary.
- Our server keeps neither the text nor the summary. It remembers only this Mac’s random key and how much text was sent with it, to hold the limit.
- OpenAI does not train its models on this data and keeps it for up to 30 days to check for abuse.
The requests that remain
- Downloading speech recognition during setup, from Hugging Face and GitHub.
- Checking GitHub for updates once an hour. Nothing about the Mac is sent; the recipient sees ordinary network data, an IP address and user agent.
- Sending results to Notion, Telegram or a webhook, only if you set that up yourself.
- A message from the Idea or bug form, only when you press Send. The form’s fields and the app version go, recordings do not.
- The notetaker mcp command never touches the network: it serves recordings only to a client you connected yourself.
About the other people on the call
With no bot on the call, nobody can see that a recording is running. Telling people and getting their consent is your responsibility: the rules depend on the country and the company.
Try it on your next call
Installing takes a couple of minutes. After that the app keeps itself up to date.
